Piera Rodriguez (8-0), an undefeated UFC strawweight, will fight Sam Sampage Hughes in the Octagon in Commerce, California.

Rodriguez, an LFA alum who attended LFA 137 on Friday in Commerce, California, will be making her second appearance in the UFC. Since making her promotional debut earlier this year, Rodriguez’s life hasn’t changed all that much, but there have been some positives, she told Cageside Press on Friday.

Let’s say I have a consistent daily routine of training, training, and more training, according to Rodriguez, who dethroned Kay Hansen at UFC 273 in April to make her debut in the organization. But now that I’ve relocated to the United States, things are a little bit easier in my life since everything is a little bit more organized. Because I didn’t have them before, I’m quite grateful to have relaxation periods in between training sessions. Life is the same, I’m the same person, but things are now a little bit more comfortable and easy while still requiring the same amount of hard work and time commitment.

Rodriguez predicted that her bout with Hughes, another veteran of the LFA, on October 15 will be challenging and exhilarating. Because I now had the chance to engage in my first fight “against Hansen,” I was really anxious about it. I’m not as nervous about it anymore, and I just want to get moving. It’s going to be a unique fight that will undoubtedly be highly exciting.

Rodriguez now serves as a mentor to some of the other fighters in her gym after making it to the main event. Similar to how Rodriguez had seemed to her more seasoned teammates before making her UFC debut.

It’s great because I believe we should support one another. If you have the chance to help someone, help them no matter where you are in life, Rodriguez advised. Why not if they are talented, dedicated, and willing to battle and put the necessary effort into it? Go lend a hand. With Jacqueline “Cavalcanti” and all the female fighters I see who are genuinely striving, that is what I am currently attempting to do. It is not the same if they only want images and other things. But if you witness someone genuinely striving, exerting themselves daily, and being disciplined, you will undoubtedly want to assist them.
