After allegedly having an affair with Sergey Brin’s wife, Nicole Shanahan, Elon Musk is said to have shattered their long-standing friendship, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal. According to people with knowledge of the matter, the couple filed for divorce earlier this year, citing irreconcilable differences. However, Musk has since denied both the alleged affair and the friendship with Brin, insisting that the news is entirely based on hearsay from unreliable sources.

The alleged romance between Musk and Shanahan took place during the prestigious Art Basel festival in Miami after Musk’s breakup with his then-girlfriend Claire Boucher, popularly known as Grimes. According to sources, Brin and Shanahan were still cohabitating at the time even though they were no longer married. According to reports, the couple’s relationship was strained because of problems with the COVID-19 lockdowns and their three-year-old daughter.

Absolute nonsense, I’m friends with Sergey, and last night we went to a party together. In three years, Nicole and I have only met twice, and both occasions have involved a large crowd. Nothing sentimental.

Musk responded via Twitter criticized the article when it was published, calling it utter BS. Musk claims that Sergey and I are buddies and attended a party together the night before. In three years, Nicole and I have only met twice, and both occasions have involved a large crowd. Nothing sentimental. The wealthy executive claimed, “Haven’t even had sex in ages,” in another reply (sigh).

Even as the richest man in the world tries to back out of his $44 billion deal to buy Twitter, Musk’s personal life and business are inextricably linked. a report from Insider revealed earlier this month that Musk had twins with Shivon Zillis, a senior executive at his business Neuralink and a former Tesla worker. The twins arrived just a few weeks before Musk and Boucher’s second child, who made Musk the father of nine children known, was delivered via surrogate.

A former SpaceX flight attendant claimed in May that the firm had paid her $250,000 to stay quiet about a Musk-related incident. Musk allegedly exposed himself to the woman, asked for a massage from her, and then asked her out on a date.

Human resources manager Heather Cairns described Brin’s actions as a sexual harassment claim waiting to happen. Brin, meanwhile, was previously referred to as the Google playboy for his sexual contact with staff members. Brins’ romance with Google Glass marketing manager Amanda Rosenberg, which took place while he was still married to 23andMe co-creator Anne Wojcicki and she was dating another Google executive, was described in a 2014 Vanity Fair article. Brin and Wojcicki divorced in 2015, followed by Brin secretly got married to Shanahan in 2018. The WSJ reports that as part of the divorce settlement, Shanahans are reportedly asking for a $1 billion piece of Brin’s approximately $100 billion fortune.

The report goes into depth about how close friends Brin and Musk had become. During the 2008 recession, Brin volunteered to support the Tesla that Musk owned with $50000, and Musk gave back by creating Brin one of the first customers to own the Model X in 2015. According to sources, Musk went so far as to ask Brin for forgiveness at a party earlier this year, getting down on one knee. According to the story, Brin has instructed advisers to liquidate his personal assets in Musk’s companies and the two still don’t speak frequently.
