Miss Manchester crowned

Arabella Durkin has been crowned Miss Manchester.

The dream became a reality for Arrabella, aged 18, after beating 32 contestants to take the custom made crown and gain automatic entry in to the Miss England 2013 Final which takes place in Torquay on the 16 June.

The night was sponsored by Stopfordian, Hughes Safety Showers, Digital Next and ANS Group, some of whom have helped put this much loved local event on the map as the biggest regional heat in the Miss England competition.

This year's live event was held at Old Trafford, the Home of Manchester United.

Miss Manchester has raised many thousands for various UK charities and this year is assisting the splendid work of Beauty with a Purpose, Miss World's official global charity, which concentrates on children's causes.

This year’s winner has never entered a beauty pageant before, as her time has been spent achieving recognition in the air training corps and her main talent is long distance running! - making it clear that being beautiful and intelligent is a modern pageant reality.

These are confident, 21st century women having fun and working hard to make a difference to the lives of underprivileged children through their charity work.

The new Miss Manchester said, ‘I'm in shock, never expected this but so thrilled to be Miss Manchester and represent such a fantastic city!”
