Jamie Oliver has been named the chef most of us will be turning to for help with this year's Christmas.

That is according to a poll by VoucherCodes.co.uk.

The chirpy chappy's straight-talking style and quick cook meals saw him beat Christmas Cookalong host and fellow Channel 4 star, Gordon Ramsay into fourth place.

Celebrity chefs are now so popular that half (47 per cent) the UK say they'll be using their recipe books to help them prepare this year's Christmas meal.

A third (32 per cent) of people will be making Jamie Oliver dishes this Christmas day while a fifth (21 per cent) say Nigella Lawson is their festive food inspiration.  Delia Smith came a close third, with 19 per cent relying on her tried and tested recipes.

Despite his Christmas Cookalong show returning to our screens for its second year this Christmas Day, just over one in ten people (12 per cent) say they'll be using a Ramsay recipe.

And whilst most will be sticking to more traditional dishes for their festive feast, 8 per cent will be taking a leaf out of Heston Blumenthal's book and attempting some molecular gastronomy.

Duncan Jennings, co-founder of VoucherCodes.co.uk said: "Celebrity chefs are very much part of Christmas these days whether we're following their recipes or buying their ranges at the supermarket.

"If you are struggling for festive food inspiration, there are lots of great deals on celebrity chef books at this time of year so snap one up and you can create some delicious Christmas cuisine for your guests."
