Saturday 14th July saw Green Street filled with VIP guests and shoppers as they made their way to Raishma’s store to check out the talented designer’s new Ready to Wear Collection.

The new RTW Collection was launched at an exclusive preview and showcase of the creations at Raishma’s Green Street boutique and featured a range of fashion-forward fusion Day to Evening-wear outfits. Amongst the guests enjoying the hospitality and fashion were: Alka Makwana and Yuvna Kim from Sony TV’s Snapshot; celebrity hairdresser Dar; British Asian singing sensation Syrene; radio presenterSharon Sharma and broadcaster and comedian Yasmeen Khan.

Raishma, who is a campaign ambassador for International charity Hashoo Foundation and its 500 for 500 Appeal, donated 10% of all sales from the collection on the day to the appeal. As a result of the immense interest and support received for the charity, Raishma will be extending the donation period throughout the month of Ramadan and until after Eid.

The 500 for 500 appeal aims to empower women living in the remotest regions of northern Pakistan by training them to become bee-keepers and thus run their own sustainable business. A simple donation can help change a woman’s life and give her back control over not just her life but improve the lives of every member of her family.

She said of her involvement with the charity: “I was delighted that so many people were enthralled by the charity and what the 500 for 500 Appeal aims to do. It was so encouraging to see people showing their support. I decided that we needed to make sure as many people as possible had the opportunity to help and get involved throughout Ramadan and Eid. Ramadan is about self-assessment, evaluation of your own life and priorities, and charity – what better cause than helping these incredible women.

”New British Asian singer Syrene was so impressed by the campaign: “I came for fashion, but actually learned so much about the women in Gilgit that I want to get involved and support the campaign on a deeper level. I love the fact that with just £250 and the training they receive, these women are able to take back control of their lives and move forward in a positive way – they don’t want to be seen as victims, they are winners.

”Raishma’s collection which is available in-store and online includes churidars, trouser suits and dresses that have been created for today’s modern woman, living a busy lifestyle and juggling practicality and glamour at the same time.

Raishma says of the new collection: “I wanted to create an affordable collection that fuses the two worlds we live in – bringing practicality and comfort together with the exotic and glamorous. And with 10% of every sale going to the 500 for 500 Appeal women can feel they are also helping other women in much tougher circumstances – think of it as Shopping for a Cause!”
